1792, with an introduction and connecting narrative; the celebrated debate in
the Commons, when that body declared itself in favour of gradual rather than
immediate abolition, emphasising the supporters of the Caribbean interest. West
India Committee records show that this work was a piece of propaganda financed
by the proprietors and traders who paid a Mr McCarthy £100 for his copyright on
it. 2 variants of this pamphlet, the rare
with catchword "imputed" on page viii, the other with
"Chants" exceptionally scarce.
