A rare apology for the slave trade and slavery in the West Indies. Gives a favourable picture of planter-slave relations. The New York Historical Society Library cites the author as HR Yorke (1772-1813); a British radical, denounced as a spy in France he fled to England where he was arrested, charged and sentenced to 3 years imprisonment for conspiracy, sedition and libel. The only edition, copies known only in the British Library, National Library of Scotland, and Worcester College – Oxford University only in the UK, no copies in North America, very rare.
