One of the earliest histories of Barbados; a quasi-historical work; favourable to the WI planters' viewpoint; written to demonstrate Barbados’ unbroken loyalty to Britain. Replied to by "Remarks upon a Book . . ." By a Barbadian planter; owner of Lower Estate and Moonshine Hall, St Georges and Thicket, St Philip; a member of the Barbados Council from 1762; commissioned Benjamin West to paint the picture of the Resurrection which is still the background to the high altar of St George’s Church where Frere is buried; great grandson of Tobias Frere; his name is variously cited as Henry. 1st edition rare; 2nd edition exceptionally scarce.
